Learn Your Own Face: Makeup Lesson FAQs
Common questions about Jody’s one-to-one makeup lessons, tailored to you and your skin, whatever stage of life you’re at.
My Learn Your Own Face makeup lessons are designed for women who want to feel more confident doing their own makeup. Many of my clients are women in their 40s, 50s and beyond who feel the makeup techniques and products they’ve used for years no longer work for their changing skin, features or lifestyle.
Absolutely not. Some clients wear makeup every day, while others have barely worn it for years. Your lesson is completely tailored to you, your confidence level and what you want to learn.
Yes, this is one of my specialisms. At 49 myself, I understand that our skin, features and relationship with makeup change. I’ll show you how to enhance your features without feeling heavy, overly made-up or unlike yourself.
We’ll create a look that works for your face, lifestyle and personal style. Depending on what you need help with, we can cover skincare preparation, base, concealer, brows, eyes, blush, bronzer, lips, application techniques and how to make your makeup last.
Yes, bring your current makeup bag if you have one. We can look at what you already own, what works, what doesn’t and what may be missing. You’ll also have access to products from my professional kit, so you can discover new options without being tied to one particular makeup brand.
Yes. Your makeup bag edit is incorporated into your lesson, so we can review the products you already own alongside learning techniques that work for you. We’ll identify what is useful, what may no longer suit you and where there may be gaps in your routine.
Absolutely. If you’ve accumulated products but still feel like you have “nothing that works”, we can simplify your collection and give you clarity about what you actually need.
Definitely not. The aim is to help you use what you already have wherever possible and only recommend replacements or additions where they will genuinely benefit you.
Yes. Many women find that products they loved in their 20s and 30s don’t sit or look the same as their skin changes. I can help you understand which textures, shades and formulas may work better for you now.
You won’t need to. After your lesson, you’ll receive a personalised digital guide together with links to the products we used, so you can recreate your look at home.
No. I’m not affiliated with one particular makeup brand, so my recommendations are based on what genuinely works for you and your budget. Wherever possible, we’ll make the most of products you already own.
Yes. If you’d like further support after your lesson, a virtual shopping add-on will be available to help you find and purchase products that suit your skin, colouring, lifestyle and budget. This is separate from the makeup lesson and can be booked when you need it.
Lessons take place at my private makeup studio in Kettering, Northamptonshire.
Yes. A personalised makeup lesson makes a lovely gift, particularly for milestone birthdays, Mother’s Day or someone who deserves a confidence boost.

More Than Makeup FAQs
Questions about the philosophy behind Addicted to Face.
For me, makeup has never simply been about how somebody looks. It’s about how they feel. More Than Makeup represents the confidence, connection and transformation that can happen when a woman takes time to rediscover herself.
More Than Makeup is the philosophy behind Addicted to Face rather than simply another makeup service. It reflects my belief that makeup can be a powerful tool for confidence, particularly during periods of change in our lives.
Makeup is at the heart of what I do, but confidence is at the heart of why I do it. Whether I’m teaching a woman to do her own makeup, preparing her for a brand shoot or working with women through events and experiences, the goal is always to help her feel confident in the person looking back at her.
Corporate Makeup & Confidence Experience FAQs
